Footlume runs lights up your steps

Footlume is a new idea that looks to revolutionize floor fashion from a team at London's South Bank University. I didn't think floor fashion needed to be changed, but this isn't a bad idea. Footlume is electroluminescent flooring that lights up with every step. The purpose is to make it easier to guide your way to the bathroom late at night, or to stumble inside after a night of drunken debauchery.

The Footlume uses weight sensors to recognize when someone is walking on the rug and lights up the designated contact areas. The idea is still a prototype, but the development team will be showing off the Footlume at the Daily Mail Ideal Home Show in London where it will likely, "Attract attention from all the right people," according to its inventors.

Interior design experts are saying that responsive surfaces like Footlume will be the next big trend in interior design for homes.

This would be useful in hotels or hostels... When there's more than one person in the room, so you can't turn on the light or you'll wake everyone. Or in new apartments, before your learn how to navigate the furniture.
