If you were looking for a guilt-free alternative to plugging your gadgetry into a wall outlet to charge, then look no further — at least, provided you have some patience.
The eMotion Solar PMP is a media player that'll let you listen to music and watch movies, though not on a rainy day. The player's batteries get recharged by way of solar panels that are exposed when you flip the thing open like a waffle iron. It's a bit pricey at $155, but hey, you won't have to pay for any lost chargers.
Want something a little more flexible? Trevor Baylis of Britain, inventor of the hand-crank radio, is now the father of the hand-crank Eco Media Player. It plays music from MP3s and the radio, and let's you view pictures and movies on its LCD screen for about 40 minutes per minute of you winding it up. A feature we dig: you can even use it's cranking powers to charge other things, like your cell phone. At $200 it's also a bit expensive, but undeniably cool.
