Vie GPS glove concept inches closer to bionic human beings

vie_7447.jpg

Vie is a conceptual design by Du Tran Nguyen at Monash University. It is a glove designed with the runner or athlete in mind. It turns your hand into a GPS receiver and displays the current location on an e-ink display on the topside of the hand. One purpose is to design and keep track of running routes and other athletic necessities.

It includes haptic feedback and other vibrating alerts that can be completely customized. For example, if you are running too slow or slower than a pre-determined pace, the Vie will vibrate to get you to kick it into gear. It also has important safety features like being capable of sending out SOS messages in the event of an emergency. It can also communicate with other Vies via Bluetooth.

The best way to describe this is to think of a glove, GPS navigation receiver, personal trainer and PDA all crammed into a single unit.
