USB Morse code machine got lost in translation

Thanko-USB-Morse-code-machine.jpgYou may have seen this little guy floating around the blog world being billed as a USB Morse code machine. For a tech writer, the excitement of such a find is understandable — after all, our careers get made and broken based on how much useless USB gadgetry we can dig up from Japan's tech-heavy underbelly.

Well, this USB doodad by Thanko isn't a Morse code machine at all. It's a charger for your mobile devices, from your PSP or DS to your iPhone and, from the looks of it, it has different adapters for each one. Or it clamps down on the unit's detached battery. Or something — but we're pretty sure it charges stuff.

Not entirely without its uses, but I liked it better when it was thought that it could beep out messages.
