Sony just announced a pretty crazy pair of headphones, the PFR-V1s. These $500 headphones are far from the most stylish things you could wear around, but in terms of sound quality they look to be second to none.

What makes them worth so much scratch? Well, rather than sticking an earbud in your ear or placing a speaker flat against the outside of them, these position a pair of 1-inch speakers about a half-inch outside your ears, directing sound right to the perfect spot in your ear. Additionally, there are bass tubes that go right in your ear, creating the perfect combo of sound. It's sure to make your music sound as good as possible, just get ready for a lot of strange looks if you try to wear them on the subway.
