This crazy contraption is the Anecova Silicon Womb, a synthetic device designed to go inside women to allow in-vitro fertilization to happen with as little fuss as possible. The doodad holds eggs in it, with the holes in the side allowing it to expose the embryos to "the natural environment of the womb."
It's a great step forward for people who are looking to use IVF to help become pregnant, and an excellent example of how medical technologies are making huge steps forward to make formerly complicated procedures simpler so more people can do them. We'll see how well it fares in the marketplace.
