Are you still waiting for Wiis to show up at your local GameStop? Have you worn out Wii tennis and baseball? It's time for motion-controlled games on a different platform. Darwin's new Motus controller is meant to work with systems other than the Wii, including the PS3 and your computer. More importantly, the Darwin contains gyroscopes and accelerometers to sense its location— it's more accurate in tracking motion than is Wii's infrared technology.
You hold the Darwin as you would a Samurai sword, which should make for excellent slicing in golf and on the battlefield. The Darwin should be in stores by the 2008 holiday season, and will cost between $79 and $99. No word yet on what new and old games it will work with.

Sounds like it will suck and not work since games are not being developed for the controller. Plus the price is retarded.

Excuse me...but the Wii Remote and Nunchuk have state-of-the-art triaxial accelerometers which eliminate the need for gyroscopic sensors as they track motion AND rotation in every direction! The infrared is only used for accurately tracking its location in your living room. To top it off, Wii Remotes may seem expensive at first, but can be thought of as budget-priced when compared to the Darwin!
My suggestion: Just find out when stores get their shipments and show up as soon as they start unloading their delivery truck. That's how I got my Wii on Nov. 20, 2006.
Hope this helped. If you want to, confirm the information.

If all the Wiimote had was IR, it'd get 'lost' as soon as the light emitter was pointed away from the sensor bar, which happens quite a bit in pretty much every game. There's internal gyros or accelerometers of some type in it; it seems like this article didn't do any research at all. Nice one, DVICE.

TOM is right about IR getting lost. I have a pile of remotes that only work when pointed at the device they are intended for. I have gotten my Wiimote to work pointed away form the tv and while under covers. I think some Nintendo hater saw someone copying Nintendo for other systems and got lost in there own drool.
And why would someone make a "better" Wiimote only for other systems that do not have games made for that kind of control?

I agree, DVICE apparently didn't do their research on this one. That thing looks like a bad ripoff of the Wii Remote. Also, the Wii Remote only uses IR for pointing function, so it can tell where you're pointing at the screen. If a game doesn't use pointing, it doesn't use IR. For motion sensing, it has gyroscopes and accelerometers. On top of all that, it costs half as much as the monstrosity shown above.

Also, I just looked at the original article they link above, and it says the Darwin is primarily designed for uber-realistic golf simulation.

Dvice you claim tech is your obsession, apparently research of your articles is a side light?

you can hook your wii remote up to ANY computer with a bluetooth adapter......i like how they fail to mention that the wii remote can do that lol....ive played alot of first person shooters with my wii remote

to feldo: Have you ever played a wii? Those controllers suck!

My son has been working on an adapted wiimote
for some time now and i have used it in a pc environment and it works amazingly well.
i like being able to draw freehand with it and write letters in mid air as if i were writing on paper.
he has moved on from infra red to lasers and is working on a sgl laser beam to make it more simple and less expensive .

Well, I have, and they work great. except when cats try to "love" on the hand that you have the remote in.
