A rather strange device we recently discovered in the SGI concept gadget lab is the KOTOHANA Emotion Communicator. The KOTOHANA (literally "event flower") would communicate human emotions via color spectrums undulating across the surface of the device's flower-like surface. The KOTOHANA would read the voice tones from nearby humans, assign the various tones emotional designations and then transmit those vibrations into corresponding light shows.
In Japan, a place known for generally subdued emotional expression, such a device might work well, but in the U.S. the only way this gadget would play is if they could come up with a Technicolor signal for those rush hour road rage episodes we pride ourselves on.
