The last time I went kayaking, the waves and shifting currents in the San Francisco Bay forced me to paddle like mad to get anywhere. I would’ve gladly tossed my kayak partner out of the boat to swap in the Kayacht, an electronic kayak motor that gives you four hours of cruising on a fully-charged battery. It can be installed in almost any kayak hull, so if you have a transparent kayak, you’re one step away from the raddest fishing rig on the river.
The Kayacht's “Bow Thruster” motor sits up front and pulls the boat through the water. It’s quiet (like a fish), and gives you better maneuverability, stopping power and straight-line tracking. The steering controls are also in front, and some of the add-ons include a customizable control console, solar panels for trickle charging or power assist, and a speedometer. The biggest danger with the Kayacht might be getting complacent and/or sleepy. Not to worry, though a safety kill switch cuts the power if you fall out of the boat.
