Craftsman CompuCarve makes whittling obsolete

compucarve.jpg

It's time to step up into the modern age, Huck Finn. Put down that whittling knife and take a gander at the Craftman CompuCarve, a fully automatic carving machine. The CompuCarve is capable of carving most soft materials includes woods and plastics. It uses a variety different sized carving bits to do the work and makes changing out bits easy with QuickRout technology.

One of the best features of the CompuCarve is the memory card system. Because it uses a memory card loaded up with your designs, there is no need to risk having a computer in the garage. Just use the CompuCarve software to design your 3-dimensional project, load it onto the memory card and insert it into the CompuCarve. The on-board computer will walk you through and setup then all you have to do is put up your feet and wait for your masterpiece to be finished. The downside is the price tag: $1,800.

This is well over a year old...probably going on 2 years old now. If you consider this is basically a portable CNC machine, the price is fantastic.

I'm not a prospect. I'm the sort of guy who used to take cheap wood and make ugly, durable furniture from it. But I would pay $10 American to see a demo of this whizzer.
