Apple updates Macbook Pro line with faster chips, multitouch trackpads
Apple unveiled updates to its line of high-end Macbook Pro laptops this morning, upgrading the chipset to Intel's new Penryn line as well as adding the multitouch trackpad that was first unveiled with the Macbook Air. In addition, there were general stat bumps all across the board.
The upgrades span from the 13-inch up to the 17-inch models, although some updates, like the LED backlit screen, is only available on the top-end 17-inch model that's priced at a whopping $2,800. However all of them get the new Core 2 Duo versions, which are supposed to be about 50% faster and more efficient. A new graphics card was also added, the GeForce 8600M GT with 512MB of memory. The entire line is available for order now on Apple.com.
