Warner Bros drops HD DVD; end of the format war?

warner_bros_logo-1.jpgCould the HD disc format war be coming to a close? It looks like a nail might have been put in HD DVD's coffin today, as Warner Brothers has completely dropped it in favor of competitor Blu-ray.

That leaves only Paramount, DreamWorks and Universal still exclusively pumping out HD DVD discs, with every other major studio either putting out movies on both formats or exclusively on Blu-ray. If another studio makes the same move, it could spell the end for the format, finally, at long last clearing up the confusion over the formats and paving the way for widespread adoption of Blu-ray as the one choice for HD format discs. Stay tuned!
