The BeatBearing sequencer makes musicians out of us all

beat_bearing.jpg

The BeatBearing tangible user interface, designed by Peter Bennett, is probably the most accessible music sequencer we've ever seen. All you have to do is place a ball bearing in one of the cups and, when the BeatBearing scans across it, it'll produce a sound. The device emulates a set of drums and lets you create rhythms using a kick, snare, hi-hat and, yes, even a cowbell.

Peter Bennett is a PhD student at the Sonic Arts Research Centre at Queens University Belfast. Click Continue to check out a video his BeatBearing in action.
