SoftBank tries to make up for Japan's lack of iPhones

softbank-fullface2.jpgWhile you might think of Japan as a land of technological wonders where they live with gadgets a few years ahead of our own, you might be surprised to learn that the iPhone has yet to be released over there, much to the unhappiness of Japanese nerds. Yes, the world's hottest phone is still unavailable in the land of Gundam.

So what's a geek stuck in Japan to do? Settle for a phone that's really, really similar to the iPhone, I guess. That would be the new Softbank Full Face 2, a suspiciously familiar-looking phone that lacks many of the features that makes the iPhone so popular. That big screen, for example, isn't a touchscreen. But it does receive live TV, which is a step up on the iPhone, and it has a nice 3.2-megapixel camera. Is it a better choice than the iPhone? No, but if you live in Japan, you don't have a choice. Sorry!
