The fight to keep your robot running longer and your electronic doodads powered has a new champion: the Panasonic Evolta battery. The double-A battery is said to have a lifespan 20% longer than its competitors, including Duracell and Energizer, and a shelf life up to 60% longer. The battery even has a cute little robot mascot to encourage you to buy the premium priced batteries ($5.40 for four) scheduled to go on sale in Japan in April with a worldwide rollout later this year.

I think that the robot on a tricycle with a pair of AA size EVOLTA dry cell batteries on its back kept pedaling non-stop, following an infrared beam from a lead car, for about 5.6 laps - 23.726 kmor 14.82 miles - around the 4.2 km Le Mans race circuit for 24 hours.

This will be the new era for Panasonic's battery business. Evolta will be good one to have in your gadgets.
