Only you robots can prevent forest fires, in Tokyo

firerobottokyo.jpg

The Tokyo Fire Department has begun using a little future technology to combat fires. This yellow robot includes all kinds of cameras and sensors to find and detect fires. It has meters that can read carbon dioxide levels and combustible gases.

The two arms are where the magic really happens. They can easily move and clear objects as well as being fitted with water or foam canons to take care of those pesky fires without having to endanger the lives of firefighters. I still wonder if the device is too large? I've never been to Tokyo, but I hear it is pretty cramped and that robot will not fit through many homes.
