Microvision to show off puny SHOW projector

Microvision has been dabbling in mini projectors for over a year now, previewing its PicoP display engine prototype at last year's Consumer Electronics Show (CES), and even teasing us with the idea of projecting images from Motorola cellphones. Now, the company has polished up the SHOW, a teeny battery-powered (for 2.5 hours) projector, surrounding it with a palm-sized case that's all set to show off at this year's CES coming up in just a few days.

The company says the tiny projector can project 854x480 (Wide VGA, or WVGA) images—not quite HDTV, but a bit better than DVD quality—that result in a picture measuring as small as 12 inches diagonally, or as large as 100 inches. We're thinking you're going to have be sitting in a pretty dark room if you want to see that 100-inch image, but even so, a projector this tiny might open up some unforeseen video-watching opportunities.
