Game Card remote probably won't catch on

card_remote3.jpgWhile I'm of the mindset that traditional remote controls don't need too many updates, what with them being loaded up with buttons that all do specific tasks, not everyone agrees. Specifically, designers love reimagining remote controls as overly-simple things that only deal with changing the channel and adjusting the volume.

Take this Game Card remote, for example. Sure, it's pretty cool, what with the channels being adjusted by sliding the cards back and forth and the volume by pushing the cards up and down, but what about, well, every other function? And with 300 channels not being out of the ordinary in cable setups, do you really think being forced to scroll through one at a time is the most efficient method. But hey, it's cool looking! What else matters?
