Deskscape card reader sacrifices functionality for design

deskscape_reader.jpg

Most manufacturers have a pretty good grasp on the line between design and functionality. You can make a pretty gadget as long as it is still functional, and vice versa. Podera, on the other hand, hasn't grasped that concept and it is apparent with the Deskscape Reader. Deskscape is a USB card reader. It certainly looks pretty and would make a great addition to any contemporary desk setup, but on the other hand it lacks functionality all over the place. Deskscape only supports memory stick, MMC and SD memory cards. Podera has left out of the biggest and most popular card types, compact flash. Way to discriminate against DSLR users, Podera.

If design is more of your bag, then go right ahead and drop $30 on this card reader. It is available in a variety of very artsy pastel colors and includes bulges that make the card reader scream, "I'm contemporary!" Sorry, Deskscape. Give me a call when you decide to support more than just three types of memory cards.
