CES New: Garmin creates a GPS that will listen

garmin_voicey.jpg

Gamin’s Nuvi 880 GPS has speech recognition that begs you to talk to it. No training necessary — you can just speak the command/address, and it’s entered into the GPS. Not only is it convenient, but it allows you to keep your hands on the wheel; just mount the push-to-talk wireless remote on the wheel and you're ready to bark orders. The 880 is also equipped to hook up to MSN Direct (paid subscription, natch), which supplies real-time traffic to keep you out of a jam as well as helping you find the cheapest gas and nearest Chinese restaurant (or Italian, or Thai, etc.). The Nuvi 880 is available now for $900.
