CES New: Burn your recording right to CD and skip the PC

Roland CD-2e_F_600_FNL.jpg

There's no need to import that concert, lecture or rehersal to a PC to burn to a CD with Roland's next-generation CD-2e personal SD/CD recorder. Available at the end of this month for $600, the CD-2e has a built-in mic (duh), lets you adjust pitch, key, and tempo as you record, has a metronome for improving timing and rhythm and stereo speakers, and records directly to CD or SD if you need more capacity – an 8 GB SDHC card can hold more than 12 hours of recording.

Weighing in at less than three pounds, the CD-2e is less than two inches thick and runs on six AA batteries. A remote control is included for controlling recording from a distance. It looks so pro we may try to impersonate a sound man and sneak onto a movie set with it. I guess we'll have to spring for the accessory omni-directional mic.
