DVICE: We love technology. We want to know about it, write about it, and shake it till it breaks. Part of the SCI FI Network, DVICE has a worldwide team of writers who constantly immerse themselves in the tech world, distilling the sometimes-excessive information out there to bring you only what you need to know.

CES New: Autonet creates a Wi-Fi zone for your car

autonet_router.jpg

This in-car Wi-Fi router brings the Internet to the car by offering the first wireless broadband network for passengers (note the emphasis) to check e-mail, chat, surf the Web, game or communicate via any Wi-Fi-enabled device — from media player to laptops to Wi-Fi-enabled cellphones to gaming consoles. As a bonus, Autonet Mobile’s service gives you access to movies, TV shows, music, online games and more. Another version of Autonet has been available on Avis cars since last July; this upgraded product can only be installed by a car dealer at this point in time. It'll be available later this spring; no pricing yet.
