Cruising through the “international” section of the CES floor feels like walking through a bargain basement electronics warehouse in Tokyo — a maze of half-baked portable gadgets and random household gizmos. Amid this chaos was the Noahpad, an inexpensive Ultra-Mobile PC with a 1GHz CPU, 512MB of RAM, a 30GB hard drive, and a 7-inch screen.
The folding hinge is an unusual design element, allowing you to hang or prop it up on a table to watch the screen. The split keyboard is also unique, and it has a built-in webcam, microphone, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth. It runs the Ubuntu, Linux-based operating system, and can also handle Windows XP. It'll be available in March for about $500.
