CES New: Video converter does HD gaming on the cheap

gamebox.jpg

The current crop of next-generation consoles support high-definition resolution, but for users who have limited budgets or just haven't made the jump to HDTV there's an alternative option: Put that PC monitor to use as a high-resolution gaming display. The Xbox 360 already has cables that can allow you to connect to a monitor or other RGB port, and we were pleased to find a nifty converter box that will let you connect the Nintendo Wii, Sony PlayStation 2 and PlayStation 3 — and for that matter just about any other console that has video jacks — to a monitor. The DM719 YPbPr-VGA converter from Newmi should be available stateside later this year, and will make sure you have the right connections.
