


If you had to stare at the back of a rack of blade servers and find just one wire, which of these examples would you rather deal with every day? Thought so. In what might not be a bad idea, some perfectionist IT guys have gone beyond orderliness and into the realm of art, arranging data center cables in patterns so beautiful, they're a cross between origami and elaborate hair braiding. I guess you'd have to start from scratch, and given the number of cables meticulously arranged there, I think you could be there for a while.

While they look nice, they are highly impractical if there was a problem. Replacing cables in some of these would take far too much time for what it is worth, making an inexpensive task into something much more costly. A little cable management is far better than over management. They might win an art award, but not one for job performance. Split the difference guys. Just think of all the cable tie trees you'll save!
