The skies are about to get a little friendlier: American Airlines has begun installing WiFi equipment on its planes, starting a pilot program that'll bring internet connectivity to the air. The first plane was just equipped with the new setup, which includes and antenna on top and two beneath the plane.
When it's all working, you'll be able to pay about $12 for WiFi on flights over three hours, or $10 for shorter flights. It's sure to be extremely popular and a huge moneymaker for the airline, but they'd better make sure that the connection is stable to make it worth such lofty fees. I guess time will tell, but I certainly look forward to the time when I can surf the web from the air.

In flight WiFi is nice, at least until your laptop batteries die. I personally would like to see power outlets built into the seats first.

Nice. They'll ban you from using your own phone to get internet access, but it's fine for them to do it and charge you exorbitantly for it. Jerks.
