Seiko Discus Watch has nothing to do with the Olympics

seiko_moving_image_discus_watch.jpg

What's the deal with the sport of discus anyway? A glorified Frisbee throwing contest? Are you kidding me? I can throw a Frisbee a solid 100 yard and even a dog can catch it in his mouth. This watch from Seiko is named Discus, but not because of the strange and outdated Olympic sports or the art of Frisbee.

The watch uses a very unique method for displaying the time. It is almost a hybrid digital and analog watch because it still uses gears, but the method that the time is displayed has a digital feel. The three aluminum discs constantly spin providing what seems to be a straight-line display. It is available in two different color varieties and carries a price tag almost hitting four digits.
