Japanese saxophone-playing robot proves we have come a long way

7118-450x-saxaphone_1.jpg

Forget about curing cancer and diabetes. The real way I know that we have come a long way as as a civilization is by this saxophone-playing robot. Before you try to think of why the world would need a saxophone-playing robot, try to imagine the world without such a robot.

There is no word on how this robot came to be; how he learned to love the saxophone, or where his passion for the brassed instruments came from, but if you click through there is a video of it tearing up John Coltrane's "Giant Steps."

This does John Coltrane no justice. Smash this to bits.

All those extra notes are pretty useless, by the way.

Having played the sax for 10 years, a well known tune would be better for an example. Technically, the instrument plays very well.
