Intel shows off one seriously tiny flash drive

intel-ssd.jpg

We've told you before that SSD flash memory drives are the future, but we've been waiting for them to catch up with our expectations. While laptop and mp3-player-sized drives are still pretty prohibitively expensive, they're dropping in price rapidly. And we're seeing some pretty amazing innovations in the field.

Check this new Intel SSD out, for example. That tiny little chip that's about the size of a penny can hold 4GB of data on it. It can also link up with 3 others, forming a miniscule 16GB drive. Designed for mobile devices such as cellphones and mp3 players, it certainly seems to be the future of storage. And the future is tiny. Get excited.
