HOAP-3 soccer robot looks startled about every goal

ujitsu-Automation-HOAP-3.jpg

The HOAP-3 is Fujitsu Automation's entry into the 2007 Robot Awards and it can keep track of its soccer ball, kick it and grab it, all while being controlled on a network (though it doesn't appear to be fully wireless). But look at that face! Eyes wide, mouth agape, the HOAP-3 is startled to find the net wide open. The HOAP-3 isn't maneuverable enough (or tall enough) to threaten modern soccer stars, but it may not be too long before we see proper robotic sports.

The HOAP-3 has been in development for a few years now, and it's good to see it's still alive and kicking.
