It pains me to see how much devices as simple as vacuum cleaners are embracing technology, but the Halo Ultraviolet Vacuum is the latest high-end vacuum to hit the home.

This vacuum not only has the usual sucking and cleaning features, but underneath the vacuum is a high-power UV-C light that penetrates the carpet to kill any bacteria running around. Myself being a pessimistic fool is itching to question the validity of killing carpet bacteria. The traditional vacuum has been around for a century and carpet bacteria hasn't been a problem then, so why is it now?

Regardless, the UV-C light is capable of killing dust mites, bacteria, viruses, mold, flea eggs and other germs. The vacuum comes with the usual array of features like a detachable hose, HEPA filtration and more. I do wonder just how strong this UV-C light is.
