8 tech tools every Ghost Hunter needs

8-tech-tools-every-Ghost-Hunter-needs-2.jpg

So, you want to be a Ghost Hunter? There's never been a better time: a lot of the tech tools hunters use in the field are available to everyone, letting you start your search for the paranormal as soon as you get home from Best Buy. From infrared cameras to night goggles, high-tech gear comes in real handy when dealing with the ethereal backlog of human history, not to mention otherworldly spooks.

Starring on the SCI FI Channel's Ghost Hunters is The Atlantic Paranormal Society (or T.A.P.S. for short), a team of paranormal researchers captained by Jason Hawes and Grant Wilson, and they aren't afraid of no ghosts. Click Continue for a list of eight essential devices the real Ghost Hunters utilize in the field, and learn what separates the hunters from the haunted.

35mmc.jpg
1. 35mm Camera
The trusty workhorse of many a professional photographer, a good ol' fashioned film camera takes a little more skill to wield than its digital brethren. Learn to use it, however, and it'll pay off in spades. Film is easier to enlarge when processing an image (to spot all of these teeny tiny ghostly details), less erratic with its light sensitivity, and, maybe most importantly, it's harder to fake a film image. After all, as a ghost hunter, you're going to have a hard enough time convincing people of your evidence as it is.

Digital Audio Recorder.jpg

2. Digital Audio Recorder

When a ghost starts moaning or knocking on things, you want to make sure you get a nice, clean copy — not a tape full of muddy noises and audio flaws. That's why many ghost hunters choose a digital recorder over using analog tapes. With digital, you can also be sure you're picking up everything within and beyond the range of human hearing, which is very important when most of the human noises you hear in your line of work are screams.

GH Digital Infrared Camera.jpg

3. Digital Infrared Camera

See-through apparitions aren't necessarily the most photogenic models around. For haunting visages invisible to the human eye, you'll want to pack an infrared-ready camera to keep tabs on sneakier phantoms. As you more or less have to keep an infrared sensor scanning continuously to make sure you don't miss anything, it's a good idea to send its feed to a hard drive where the footage can be stored and studied later.

GH Digital Video Camera.jpg

4. Digital Video Camera

Whether you're confronted with Casper the Friendly Ghost or something that looks like it stepped off the set of the X-Files, you're going to want to make sure you get all of it down. Digital video cameras offer a lot of flexibility when it comes to storing and capturing moving images. For instance, you can get one with plenty of internal space like a large hard drive built-in, or a model that records on several different formats, such as DVDs and MiniDV, so you can swap on the fly and never run out.

GH Digital Thermometer.jpg

5. Digital Thermometer
Ghost sightings often happen fast and in a major way. If you don't want to miss anything, you'll need more than just visual and audio equipment to record all relevant data. Setting up a digital thermometer is usually a good idea. Temperature changes frequently accompany the presence of the paranormal, and a digital thermometer can stream continuously updating measurements to your equipment.

GH Electromagnetic Field Recorder.jpg

6. Electromagnetic Field Recorder

Similar to the digital thermometer, the EMF recorder will keep you abreast of whatever electromagnetic fluctuations occur during a sighting. EMF recorders aren't employed by all ghost hunters — many discount them because all kinds of things (televisions and other appliances, for example) emit electromagnetic fields, but the thorough ghost hunter is the one with the most evidence.

GH Night-Vision Goggles.jpg

7. Night-Vision Goggles
Unfortunately, given the creepy nature of hauntings, many ghosts won't want to come out until it's good and dark. You don't want to stumble around when candlesticks are flying across the hallway, so you should probably take a pair of night-vision goggles for low-light situations. In absolute darkness you'll need infrared, but for most situations the light amplification night-vision specs provide should be more than enough.

GH Thermal-Imaging Digital Camera.jpg

8. Thermal-Imaging Digital Camera
Where the digital thermometer gives you a rock-solid record of your bone-chilling experience, a thermal-imaging sensor on a digital camera will give you visual proof. Thermal imaging is enormously useful as you'll be able to see how big hot and cold spots are and how they affected the environment around them during a haunting. You'll also get to make fun of the guy who has the big warm spot down the front of his pants when the ghosts first appear.

For the first time in my 60 plus years, I have become a fan of a TV show,(I can't believe it) the Ghost Hunters. Though I have been aware of things that others don't see, or are not aware of all of my life, I don't believe in most ghost stories. I spent two and half years in Vietnam as a airborne Ranger and became friendly with the people of a couple small villagers and saw and experienced some interesting things. I do not believe that any entity that was a human is capible of doing phyical harm to any living being. The demonic forms that do stalk the world are deadly. I am sure you all know more than I ever will.
This show is really a lot of fun and I enjoy watching, with humor, as the leaders keep this group of investigaters, case Mgr and all the others required to produce such a good show in line and on the ball.
PS I don't like Brian at all. Even on TV he appears to be sneaky and deceptive.

Hello....

Just a few comments.
The digital thermometer that is shown will not find cold spots, so it is pretty much useless.
The I/R goggles are nice but you need something to record what you are seeing. It would be really frustrating to see a full body shape walk through the room and then have nothing but your memory of it.

Thanks,
Bryan

In the event folks end up in a bad situation, what do you suppose an EMP device would do to help?

By Greg at 8:34 PM ON 01/02/08

You should really look into going to Galesburg Ill. The Knox College. They have had alot of paronormal problems. They havn't been able to get a camera past the opening of the basement. You guys should really look into it.

By Anonymous at 8:58 PM ON 01/02/08

An EMP device would short out all electronic devices in its blast radius. That Brian guy on TAPS is so annoying and unprofessional. Sci-Fi should invest in fixing his teeth

By suzzi at 2:14 AM ON 01/03/08

Would love to know where to purchase the ghost hunter equipment. I miss Bryan and like everyone on the show. It is my favorite show.

By caspernny at 8:15 AM ON 01/03/08

We have a group here in Plattsburgh NY but some of the equipment is quite expensive and not easily attainable by the average joe. Any thermometer that has a laser can be used to record hot and cold spots and its not pricey at all. $50 to $90 and you can get it on ebay. An EMF reader costs anywhere from $30 to $200. My advice is to start out inexpensive til you get the hang of it and then upgrade when your able. DVR's are great and they have them at walmart for $30. It works great and you get some clear recordings. Good luck to all.

I enjoy watching the crew from TAPS and can't wait to see what happens when they go global. I would like to go on trips to places experiencing strange happenings. While I know I would be nervous, I know I would make a great member to any crew! Anyone doing any work in the Midwest?

By PageP3 at 8:30 PM ON 01/03/08

I love the show. But Brian is annoying. I am tired of all his complaining and drama. I understand that working relationships have their difficulty but it takes away from the professionalism TAPS. Don't air dirty laundry on tv.

By kam at 9:24 PM ON 01/03/08

love the show love the team and love watching steve.keep on keeping on. thanks for sharing with all of us your experiences.

By vegasghostgirl702 at 6:20 PM ON 01/04/08

Love the show. Jason & Grant are the best. I recently saw the show Paranormal State on A&E and it just makes me laugh. I don't believe their goal is to be a comedy, but compared to Ghost Hunters it truly is. Elaine (or whatever her first name is) Warren was on, which should tell you how ridiculous it was. Anyway, keep the faith Ghosthunters crew and can't wait for next season. BTW, Steve's tattoos are first rate; especially the ones on his left forearm!

Peace to all!

By cenakid632 at 7:58 PM ON 01/04/08

Nice this stuff is awsome. i have a question though. for the digital infrared camera do you need an DVD hard drive in your computer to be able to play the footage it capture?

Hello. My name is Vincie. I watch every episode of TAPS on scifi. :) Um, my sister's house has a ghost. Like when we are all downstairs, you can hear berrow-drawers open n' a dark shadow figure apears in my neice's room that a few people have seen. We thought nothing of it until we heard a man's voice in my neice's room that said "you can't f**k with me!!" The only info. that we know is that a guy committed suicide at that location. How can I research it to see if it was a black guy that blew his brains out? I've tried to look up any suicides in wyoming,RI (hopevalley), but i can't find anything. Can you help? If you can, it will be greatly appriciated. :) thank you. -Vincie- ps. my sister's address is 6A Nooseneck Hill Rd., Wyoming, RI 02898

LOVE YOUR SHOW AND ALWAYS INTERESTING,TODAY I WAS TRYING TO WATCH THE EPISODE AT THE PLANTATION IN NEW ORLEANS, BUT I COULD`NT FINISH WATCHING IT ,MY WIFE HAD TO SEE HER SOAP,SO MY QUESTION IS WHERE CAN I BUY DVD`S OF ALL YOUR EPISODE.
KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK.
AND FOR THE PERSON WHO MADE A COMENT ON BRIAN`S TEETH,ITS FUNNY HOW PEOPLE LOOK AT OTHER`S PHYSICAL APPEARANCE,BUT NEVER LOOK AT THIER OWN, I BET I CAN FIND A LOT OF UGLY THINGS IN YOU.(WHICH I DID ALREADY WITHOUT EVEN KNOWING YOU IN PERSON)SO TAKE A GOOD LOOK AT YOURSELF, YOU SHOULD START WITH YOUR FEET,I`LL BET THATS NOT A PRETTY SIGHT.

TAPS is the Greatest show to ever come to TV! I've had many experiences, from blue eyes in my closet, pictures of praying hands falling off the wall, to a bloon floating around the room (with no wind to push it), to a blue orb flying out my bedroom when i seen it.
Taps show is just more proof that, just because you can't see it dosn't mean it dont exist!!! thank you for "Comming out of the Closet"

By Kat at 9:07 PM ON 01/09/08

I've watched this show many times and have yet to see these people actually find anything that they can show us. Why do we all keep watching this crap when all they do is hype us up saying they've found something, then fail to come through. We all might just as well make shadow puppets on our bedroom walls.

Hi, I was reading through the blogs and seen so many interets. I did send a email to the case manager about the hotel that I work in 3rd shift. I forgot about the prison that is here an I heard that they have a no trespassing area behind the prison. there are some prisoners that are burried there that were executed at the prison. So many skepticals out there an it's too bad that each person couldn't have at least one experience. So many places here in Iowa that has paranormal things. The library downtown I worked there before as a summer job, I seen an old lady there before. She was looking for books, I seen the back of her head, grey an white curls, I went over there to see if I could help her an no one was there. I had alot of uneasy feelings in that place. Across the river in Dallas city IL there is a school over there. Heard many terrifying stories of those who went to school there. the top of that school is blocked off but i guess you can see someone at night watching the kids play basketball. Also they said that the lockers have all open an shut on someone before. was a teacher i think, i guess a football player committed suicide in the locker room. I bet someone could have fun there finding activity. If anyone is near by an the TAPS team can not make it here to check out the hotel an all maybe some of you that are doing it for fun would like to come down? stay a weekend or something an put up cameras. I have had alot of activity in the years I have worked here. I have thought of doing this all on my own but I have had a really bad experience with my friend an the spirit followed me home. I had to stay out of my house for 2 days. I also have lived in a couple apartments that had activity. The one my grandparents owned an I didnt feel scared or a bad vibe but I would hear my back door open an someone come in an sound like they were carrying some kind of bags like groceries or something an would go through the other door to the upstairs. I lived in that same apartment when i was 4 yrs old an always seen things there but my mother never believed me. Now that I am older I know what I see an then living there again, I knew it was real. anyways, my yahoo email is purplemagic20@yaho.com please put in the subject line Ghost Hunters so I know its not spam. Thanks. Have a great time hunting :)

I can never get enough of ghost hunting...I always want more.

By rammseingel at 2:25 PM ON 01/10/08

okay. so, i know there are people who are jankin on brian. thing is, he has made some pretty bad choices in the past. hopefully, he has grown up and changed and is now focused on his job and not going to bring his personal life with him on investigations. i didn't like him in the beginning, but maybe he has changed. to the person who commented on steve's tats: that is his personality and his style. does it impair his ability to investigate?? NO. they all have their different styles, but they all do a darn good job investigating.

By mysticwitness at 6:24 PM ON 01/10/08

*To Beachbabe 02891: Caution: Don't ever give out an address over the internet. Not everyone who plays on the internet is a nice person. You could be setting your sister etc., up for a creepy visitor of the non-paranormal kind.
*Steve's tatoos are OK. Individuality is cool.
*Brian? I think they play up his emotional state and interaction with everyone just for filler and to make things more personable. Agree or disagree?

Ghost Hunters rocks! Discovered it a few months ago, and am obsessed now! I never miss an episode, only complaint is that I wish they weren't filmed sooo far in advance! Ghost Hunters International was a bit of a disappointment, but I'm sure they tried their hardest, and I can't for the new season of the original! I've always believed in the paranormal, but TAPS has really helped me see that if your are logical and sensible, it's nothing to fear! Thank you so much guys! The show is not only educational and interesting, but entertaining and hilarious as well, I've laughed and learned so much! And all the hunters are so likeable and knowledgeable! Keep it up!

Peace out!

I enjoy the show and try to record an episode if I can't sit down and watch. For Ghosthunters' feedback you could do better than Brian, he's just goofy and it brings down the professionalism of the show and what your trying to achieve. Keep it Up!

hello its about time that we can watch it on tv and see it too. Iv incounter a spirit at my parents house since we were small and Iv had friends get scared and witness it to. It always set at my foot of the bed. It used to get us in trouble antill my dad witness it and he never said anything to us again. but it still their and it watchs over my mother for us . Its not bad and it seems so lonley that it like the females of the house at first my mother got scared and now shes relax and uses to it too. but i was always interested in the spirits or ghost and want to help them out and find out why their here and how we can help them but the bad ones are to much and they are harder to understand and dont like how they treat us or use us to do their dirty work. but i have some questions for you and when you go looking for them do you feel them when your walking though the place before you start and how or what do you feel. I love watching your show and never miss this at all and sometime I hate that I can feel them or here them sometimes and I try hard not to let them scare me and just want to know how they feel or feel how many around me. but Ill still watch you show and Im interested in one of those thermal machine. let me know how and where to get one. thank you all so much for giving me this chance to watch and enjoy what you do. julie

I love Taps "Ghost Hunters". I have been an avid fan from the beginning. I do have difficulty with the overlay music. Often it over powers the Taps Team making conversation and ghostly sounds impossible to hear...any suggestions?

By Peris at 7:30 AM ON 01/17/08

I came in contact with this series through a friend.I have something to ask regarding the episod at the USS Lexington.
At 13:22 minute of the footage shown brian and mike are chasing something and eventually they end up on the flight deck where you can clearly see people onboard the ship as well as lights on meaning that real people apart from TAPS are on the ship. That could create noises like the "dropped wrench" that was heard earlier or even the electricity being on could generate high emf readings....to an old ship like that.
Am i seeing real people at that exact moment?and if i am, dont they interfere with this whole investigation in some way?
My belief is that the Lexington investigation was totally contaminated and all findings should be dismissed since external factors (mainly the human presence of these workers) can influence findings...
I wonder if anyone else saw what i am claiming here...

Hey Ghost Hunters Family From the Attleboro House:

I know that your investigation of our home did not turn up much but two weeks after.... we had a bedroom door opening and closing all by itself for an hour. The last time I watched it open and close, there was a shadow that was blocking light along the lower half of the door. that's when I got up and said, okay, that's it. I went to the door and there was nothing on the other. Both the wife and I saw a quite visible shadow that was no higher than a child's height.

Since you were here in October 2007, the house has been very active. We both feel that you started your investigation too soon and left too early. recent activity has been happening during all times of the day, not just the evening.

You guys said someone would be in touch with us to continue the investigation. We have yet to hear from anyone. You are missing some serious activity here.

We are now considering purchasing our own cameras and assorted equipment to capture movement, images and sounds.

Should be interesting!!!!!

Hey guys! Love the show. Being a scientist myself, I like the approach of disproving instead of just jumping to a conclusion. I have had an experience with my wife that neither of us could explain, so I am very interested in all findings. Keep up the good work, we'll be watching.

If you really want to know where to get the gear. Google it. Thermal Imaging cameras cost thousands so don't even look for one unless you've got a spare 3 - 6k somewhere. I got an Olympus WS-100 Digital Voice Recorder for about $30 on Amazon. DVR systems can be expensive if you don't look at all the possible ways to set one up. If you have a computer you can get a DVR PCI card and some decent IR cameras for pretty cheap. I don't think Nightvision goggles are'nt really necesary but I guess they could help.

By crittlegirl at 2:28 PM ON 01/24/08

By Investigator-in-Training at 5:19 PM ON 01/24/08

I really want to be a TAPS member in the future so I thaught getting this equiptment would help me go on my own investigations. Well, where could I actually get it?!

By carol at 4:21 PM ON 01/25/08

I am cuious about the thermal video cams. they use on tv ghost hunts. I am a video editor and I can simulate a thermal cam effect in my edit suite. I'ts simple and easy to do. Why if you can so easily replicate this effect do they still use it? Knowing what I know about video editing the thermal video cams effects on the shows looks fake.
Carol

By justme at 1:12 PM ON 01/26/08

TAPS dismisses everything, and hardly ever finds anything. You only spend a few hours for 1 night. Don't you think you should spend a little more time at an investigation. Unless its a bad spirt (don't know all the diff kinds Human residual malevolent demon ... with a strong hold it may be a bit shy with new visitors.

The show had started to drag from me and I hate when you stretch it to an hour by repeating the same scenes over and over - Its annoying.

Ghost equipment can be obtained by Googling each instrument. Find the piece you need, compare prices and options, figure in S&H, and you'll usually find what you need for the price you can pay. Two things for amateurs starting out: IR camera and audio recorder. Sony makes a good, dependable and durable IR camera, slightly expensive, but I've had mine for 7 years and it's still my favorite. I choose SONY products most of the time. My digital audio recorder is the Olympus. It's relatively inexpensive, can be purchased at any Radio Schack, and comes in a price range of $39-$59 (depending on options). Be sure to buy one with a USB port, so that you can upload the files to your computer. I use the Audactiy audio editing software, which can be downloaded for free off the Internet. It can be googled.

You can either put your recorder out, and leave it there, or ask a series of questions at 20 second intervals each. Speak loudly, definitively and clearly. When external noises are heard, mark these in the recording by making note of them such as: A truck just went by. This way, you can delineate which noises are created by natural phenomenon, and which are not.

When taking pictures at night, make sure you have camera set on your "night shot" function. Make note if there is reflective surfaces around, stop signs, someone smoking, lots of dust, moisture, or someone's "breath" becauuse it's so cold. I generally don't like to take pictures under these conditions.

Happy ghost hunting!
GhostGirl

For all of you that ask where can I get equiptment, well firts don't buy cheap stuff if you plan on getting good results. WWW.professionalequiptment.com has all the Ambient temp gyages, EMF detectors, and Trifield Meters. They also have Thermal Image cameras, and ofcourse a great mini digital thermometer with a extenable probe. Dom't waste your money on a infrared thermometer, it will not show you you cold spots unless they are on the back wall. The second online company is www.musiciansfriend.com It has the best digital recorders, microphones, preamps and sound mixers. I record above and below what our hearing can hear and also our hearing range. Then useing a mixer I get 10 times the EVP's If you are going to use a digital microphone, purchase a seperate mic. They collect less interference than just the hand held recorder. Recorders, like Olympus can be purchased on ebay after being remanufactured for half the price. Sony is the only company that makes a digital night shot camera, they run about $500. For a DVR, sony also makes the best night shot and also takes digital single shot pictures to a card. You can also audit your video recording and take single snapshots to the card for processing through your computer or printer. Most important is a pincel and pad for notes, WalMart sells them for $.20 IR lights require a lot of wire a computer and a card, plus a DVR to record your recording to. They tend to kill a hard drive. You can get them at FRY's electronics and the hundreds of feet of wire you need to use. Don't listen to anyone saying buy a wireless system. Those little lights still require 12 volts to light up, so you might as well hard wire the video also. If you have a old 35mm slr camera you don's use, you can have it modified to take only infrared pictures by a internal filter change, costs about $250. Cheapest stuff is a compass, works just as well as a $65 EMF meter. heap WalMart digital ambient air thermometer. Cheap digital camera $100.00 and then start reading books at the library about the Paranormal. Join a group, never hunt alone and don't waste your time in the local Cemeteries, It is a good way to get a fine for trespassing. Always ask permission of whoever owns the property to hunt or inform the local police if you are entering a old Boothill. There are two different types of Ghost Hunters, those that think everything thay photograph is a ghost and a serious Paranormal Investigator who may never see a Ghost. ORBs are dust, breath and crap in the air. If your are photographing them, remove your strobe and then see if you get any self illuminating ORBs. Then no one will believe you anyway. I just spent 2 days and nights in the Goldfield Hotel in Nevada, The 2nd most scariest place in the world.. Equiptment taken, 35mm SLR camera, 2 Digital Cameras, cannon and a modified sony. Three sony DVR's with super nightvision ($1,200.00each) Tripods, 5 digital recorders with Mic's and mic stands, preamps and vocal microphones. 2 Trifield meters, 2 ambient air thermometers and 4 remote thermometers with master receiver and low temp warning. IR lights, no electricity, useless.. compass, notepad and a watch for the blind tht tells the time vocally.Headset and various other stuff like computers, DVR recorder and and huge plasma screen to kick back in my motorhome and look at the same rooms and halls for hours, while listening to silence through a headset. Hope that helps in finding your equiptment.

By mikey at 10:28 AM ON 02/22/08

If a thermal imaging camera is a "MUST HAVE" gadget, then we'd all be in deep trouble. FLIRs run in the neighborhood of $8000.00, a price I'm sure most investigators cannot afford.

I hope readers realize that you can do some sound investigating with no more than a decent camera, a digital audio recorder, and a miniDV with IR capability. A k-type thermometer is also useful for cold spots. As mentioned before, IR thermometers will only give you readings of surface temps.
All in all if you consider:
Digital camera: $200.00
Digital Audio Recorder: $50
MiniDV with IR extender: $300
K-type thermometer: $30

EMF meters are useful for debunking also, but with the above items, along with paper&pen and flashlights. I wouldn't turn an investigator away.

I would also add that I think a laptop with a nice long life battery is far more important than a FLIR, or even DVR cameras.

Happy hunting!

Hi all at Taps! I have been studying the paranormal on my own since I was in the 9th grade. I have only been seriously hunting and collecting evidence in this past year. My friend Becky and Dale have a couple of stubborn PESTS that can't take a Hint, in their house. The house has been Blessed repeatedly but it only keeps them out for a short amount of time.I have witnessed furniture including the computer I am on now lift off the floor and slam back on the floor desk and all. The moniter rocked back and forth like it was having it's own personal earthquake for over five minutes. All the kids, mine included: Becky and Dale were standing next to me not moving a muscle things are really active at night but we have had plenty during the day.Like the incident with the computer,we have also heard loud boots steps across the ceiling, knocking of all kinds, whispering and on two occasions a little girl singing. The kids have seen full apparitions and so has Becky. The kids range in age from 9,two 11year olds and a sixteen year old. We did have a picture of a little girl in Beckys attic until someone erased half our pictures. She looked like she was about the same age as my 9 year old and she had curled shoulder length hair pinned back at the sides and was wearing a white apron over a short sleeved dress. We know that this house is over a hundred years old. They need help I simply don't have the money to buy a bunch of equiptment and was wondering if their is someone in Michigan that you guys trust to do the job at no cost. Please feel free to contact me at cherylsSnailMail@gmail.com My address is Cheryl Hanson P.O box 415 Lincoln,MI 48742 Thank-you

I feel he contributes a lot but is under appreciated for his ghost sensitivity. Altho I appreciate what the show is doing,I don't like it when Brian's personal experiences get laughed at by the bald guy(sorry, don't know name)that started TAPS, when it took a lot to convince TAPS founder that a place was haunted when you guys filmed a chair moving at what I think was a lighthouse.

By pattib at 4:21 PM ON 03/04/08

first of all my son and i never miss a show, we love taps and taps International. Brian is human and I think he has a great gift of picking up the paranormal things before others and was unappreciated in the past.
Now he is more appreciated.
For a long time before Steve came into the picture Brian was close to Grant and Jason and I felt maybe Brian was booted to the side once Steve started.
I think with Steves past history of being a police investigator they pushed Brian to the side and figure him more of a joke and took Steve more seriously when there were many times it was Steve that was the jokester and that went unnoticed to the cofounder and founder.
whatever the reasons for the falling out, the shows and people are all wonderful in their own individual ways and it wouldn't be the same without any of the charactors...
Even Andy... we have to laugh at him.. only laugh-
Andy claims he likes to debunk first.. blah blah blah.. but he seems to run away like a scared child when something presents itself ..
He tries to come off so serious and then something happens and he is the first to throw up his hands and say.. ok it's real as he is running away scared out of his mind....
He's also a follower-not a leader and to me that is not a good investigator, however it shows in his actions and even in the way he started dressing and his new hair cut. The new head man of the international team has a fan in Andy because he is trying to look like his twin. What a striking resemblance Andy has to his new boss.. NOT!!
I really think Brian has better investigating skills -- and even in the past when others laughed at Brian at least he stuck to his own views he never swayed under laughter and sneers he stuck to his guns, and even didn't spend money on changing his looks and teeth for others... he leads on his own path and I think he is a better person for it.
Maybe the editor will keep in some of the parts that show more of Brians endearing ways that we don't see, qualities of Brian in Taps International may we see the the real brian..The one that needed family time off.
I hope he has better luck there -everyone deserves a second chance and noone deserves to lose friends and a job because a new man comes along with more in common in personality and looks.
Brian has a lot of experiance and he w that he started as "one of his close friends to him and his family." give the man a break. he may have been played off as sneaky trying to keep some of his personal things personal and not a tv topic. i love taps and taps international..!! keep up the great shows..

I really enjoy the show-I would love to go on an investigation with you. My son and I love to watch the show every week-I wish you folks would go back to that lighthouse in Florida-I don't remember the name-but that video, and your personal experiences were the most compelling aspects of the shows we have watched thus far. Keep up the fight!

WOW .....I just started catching up with my DVR episodes and found out that in fact Josh and GHI have done a couple projects together and hope that they will do many more and I still totally think that GH AND GHI SHOULD INVESTIGATE ALL OF THE SITES SHOWN IN SCARIEST PLACES ON EARTH !!! ASWELL AS DEBUNK SOME OF THESE GHOST OR HAUNTED TOURS IN SOME OTHER PLACES ACROSS THE USA BUT I DO UNDERSTAND THAT THEY ARE PROBABLY UNABLE TO DO SO TO AVOID BEING SUED BY THESE TOURS THAT ARE JUST HOAXES /WAYS TO MAKE SOME FAST EASY CASH!

Love the show and mostly love Bryan. Thrilled he is with GHI. My kids and I watch every episode and have seen most twice. It hurts us to see Bryan disrespected. Wish the guys could imagine yourselves on a team where everyone makes you feel so small. That would be uncomfortable. I've heard alot of talk about professionalism. Use it in your actions to Bryan. Everyone is accountable for what they teach those watching. We will always watch your show and enjoy you all. Thanks Mom

Quick question...Can you use your cellphones voice recorder as an EVP? Cuz...I'm pretty sure I did....it was cool!

By psh at 1:20 AM ON 04/20/08

As a scientist from Louisville, paranormal exploits have been my primary hobby for several years. Unfortunately(or fortunately), I also tend to be
spiritually sensitive. I quickly discovered that I needed more than the equipment and a gung-ho
attitude to continue. If the reader is serious, may I suggest that you realize your chakras, practice cleansing and protection (such as the eggshell exercise)and at the very least...be able to call forth your guardian angel, in the event you encounter a big nasty. Just as there is both the art and science of medicine i.e. bedside manner(empathy)+skill-equipment) so there is in the paranormal arena. Remember when Jason tried to protect himself or block the medium from reading him? The IR camera caught the old man still getting a piece of his energy. So please, be able to protect yourself, if you're gonna go asking an evil entity, "what is your name....why are you here?" You can be still be hurt...spiritually and mentally, if not physically.

I have seen a couple of comments here about the Florida light house. It is the St. Augastine Lighthouse. I am fortunate enough to only live a few miles away. Love the show and never miss it. If there are any groups in the area that can use a good debunker/investigater, please contact me at matrix32176@yahoo.com. Tried one group here locally, but to say the least, was not impressed with their investigative skills. And, being a former Marine, you would never have to worry about me yelling "DUDE, RUN!!!"...lmao Sorry Brian...

By Strega at 12:32 AM ON 05/30/08

Hey Jay & Grant, Love the show and the ethics you operate within. Thank you so much for letting Brian go...both Brians for that matter. I meet so many that don't believe and only wish I could let them experience what I have over the last 46 years. I'm Wiccan and throughout my life have been confronted by spirits...mostly very friendly. I would love to locate a TAPS family group in my area...Chicago. Thanks and keep up the great investigating!

Don

You should come to Washington State. We have some really active spots in Ellensberg and Yakima.Email for more details.

Love you guys and girls! I was born where Jason was born and raised. Canandaigua! I live about an hour away from the Crescent Hotel in Eureka Springs, Arkansas. Great place. I have several pics with orbs. Although my sister didn't get any on her camera. I'd love to stay overnight there. I didn't feel anything on the autopsy table, but figured that was because the souls would already be gone. Activity is elsewhere in the hotel. Love the show. Melody.

By Ghostfan at 11:11 PM ON 06/18/08

My whole family from my grandmother to my 2 year old daughter has had experiences with the paranormal. I am just sooo happy they finally came out with a show that is REAL. I love the way the TAPS team investigates. They don't try to pull wool over peoples eyes, they get to the truth. I would love to be able to go on an investigation with them. So would my 14 year old daughter. What a blast that would be! We are in Northern Michigan by the way.

By LVTAPSFAN at 2:33 AM ON 06/26/08

Enjoying your show! I've ghost hunted for years in the wild wild west & experienced many bizarre events in true ghosttowns. In and around Tombstone, AZ & Goldfield, NV are always active. Your show inspires me! Debrah

By lan8mo8 at 10:42 AM ON 06/26/08

Hi, my daughter and her boyfriend (as well as me) are totally into this whole ghost hunters thing. They (daughter & boyfriend) just came back from the Stanley Hotel in Colorado, was alittle disappointed cause they did not experience anything paranormal, but that's where he asked her to marry him, so that was exciting!! They are going to Tampa, Fla. for a ghosthunt class in July, then on an investigation there, then in I think its Aug.or Sept. will be meeting Jason and Grant at a Hotel in New Hampshire, I forget the name, but will have dinner with them then go on an investigation. Very cool!!!! I hope they see some ghosts!!!

By lan8mo8 at 10:48 AM ON 06/26/08

Oh, by the way.....I love you Grant, Jason, (Steve-especially!) Tango and all of the others! The show overseas is good, but I like the ones at home better, I think the guy who is head of it there is wierd...wish Jason and Grant could do the show there also, guess the wives wouldn't go for that, huh?

By investigator at 10:57 PM ON 07/03/08

This is a misleading and inaccurate listing of items. They certainly aren't "what every ghost hunter needs" for investigating, and most I would recommend against. The best tools you can take along with you are your eyes and ears. Other than that, an ANALOG recorder (not digital), a digital camera and a good flashlight are what you need for essentials. Of the remaining items, an EMF detector is nice for finding spikes near electrical equipment, but the rest of the stuff is untested in the field and a lot of money ill-spent.

By San_Domingo at 5:18 PM ON 08/09/08

I just wanted to say that I LOVE TAPS & the Ghost Hunters crew. Not so much into Brian though, he seems to, I don't know, maybe not take this as seriously as he could be.
I also wanted to say that I have had numerous incidents. Wether they were truly paranormal or not is yet to be determined.
I do know that not two weeks ago, I was in the bathroom, and the rug lifted up, shook a few times, (like when you make your bed, and shake the blankets), and then lay down completely flat. That was the one that startled me the most.
I also know that I have a ghost that has been following me for several years. He's always standing in my bedroom doorway. In EVERY house/apartment/duplex, whatever that I have lived in.

By Steven at 12:08 AM ON 09/08/08

As most ghosthunters I truly enjoy TAPS..however I tend to wonder why they dont use eqipment more efficiently..ie.. cold spot? thermal camera..and why did Jason while debunking Sutton house stand behind the mattress..duh.. anyone would/could have stood right behind the door.. I dont know.. sometime they leave us with more why questions than answers to good ghosthunting.Also.. what reason could they have to not share their reasons as to why they got into this field any way..that lame line "its just to personal" dont fly..they ask EVERYONE they investagate for their reasons and stories.. why not them..mmmmm "GAY GHOST" ..mabey? lol...

By indyhunter at 10:21 PM ON 09/17/08

I love Ghost Hunters and GHI. Why does Brian keep coming and going? He seems like a dedicated, experienced hunter. Tango and Justin are awesome. And Chris and Donna are both, well totally hot. But why is Steve such a complete mangina. Guess it takes more than tatoos to make a man. He seems like such a douchebag. Maybe the should send him over to Paranormal State. Keep all the idiot ghosthunters together. Anyway, kudo's scifi, hope they don't screw it up like they do every other good show they get their hands on.
