Beijing to have longest subway system in the world by 2015

Plans are underway for China's capital city of Beijing to have the longest a subway system in the world by 2015. The expansion calls for five new subway lines with nearly 350 miles of track between them, and would dethrone the current king of underground transportation, the London Underground, which has 250 miles of track.

Work on the Beijing subway lines have already started and the construction is scheduled to last the next nine years.
