Barefoot Shoes: it doesn't get much worse than this

barefootshoes.jpg

Here's a good way to make people uncomfortable when you run into them in public: wear a pair of these supremely-creepy barefoot shoes. Looking much too realistic for my level of comfort, they'll give you all the protection that normal shoes do with all the toenails that going barefoot provides.

And yeah, sure, there's probably a 70% chance that this is just a gross photoshop, but I'm pretty sure the technology and motivation exists for these things to be a reality, so I'm gonna let it slide. The weirdest part about these (apart from the obvious) is how awkwardly large your "feet" would look inside a pair of feet shoes. Oh man.

This is a rip-off from a bit done on Saturday Night Live. Some singer (Jack Johnson maybe) hated wearing shoes so much that he created "barefoot shoes". Almost as creepy as this but only slightly funnier because it was on SNL.

It could be worse - it could be one of those 4 toed feet.

It's pretty obvious this is a photoshop. Isn't this supposed to be a technology blog? Or are all the posts fake?

Those would actually make my feet look normal size, since according to my friends I have 12-year old Chinese girl feet, haha.

However, normal-sized feet are not worth the gross-out factor.

This is, I believe, from an article in New York Magazine about Viva Barefoot and Vibram Five Fingers shoes. Photoshop for the article, not an actual product. The photo also appeared in The Week magazine with a summary of the above article.

I would get these if they existed but chances I would probably never wear them since I go barefoot all the time anyway
