Bandages for the Heart: can gold heal?

Bandages-for-the-Heart-jewelry.jpg

Bandages for the Heart are Band-Aids made from jewelry-grade materials. You probably won't want to use one to staunch just any wound (unless you make a habit of throwing away 18 karat gold) — instead, Bandages for the Heart are symbolic patches for past pain. No hidden tricks here: no special miracle-cure adhesives or nerve-chilling numbness. Nope, the Bandages are old fashioned. They heal with caring and good intentions.

Designed by artist Alysia Dee Kraus, Bandages for the Heart come in sterling silver and 18 karat gold with a garnet-blood-drop on the pad for $250 and $1100, respectively. A pretty costly reminder of whatever you've been through to warrant buying yourself a medal for it, but a portion of the proceeds is donated to charity.

Dear DVICE,

I just came across this posting and wanted to thank you for acknowledging my work on your very cool site. It's fascinating to see my work featured on a site dedicated to technological products, in addition to the usual fashion/style blog. I always appreciate the recognition, and am grateful for the role you have played in spreading the word about my work.

Happy Spring,
