Wal-Mart selling an HD DVD player for less than $100

walmarthda2.jpg

If you've been waiting for the prices of next-generation HD disc players to get affordable, your time has come. That's because Wal-Mart has a deal, starting tomorrow, on an HD DVD player for less than a hundred bucks. Yep, that's right, you can get an HD DVD player for a mere $98.87 if you're willing to brave the big blue box to get it.

The player, the Toshiba HD-A2, isn't a top of the line HD DVD player, as it can't do 1080p, but it can play 720p and 1080i just fine, which is a heck of a lot better than standard DVD players. As it normally runs $299.99, this looks to be one of the hottest tech deals of the holiday season. Get 'em while they're hot!

UPDATE: Looks like Best Buy is getting in on the fun, matching Wal-Mart's price.
