Losing at gambling really sucks. When you win, you feel like the smartest, luckiest guy in the world, because, hey, free money! But when you lose, you just feel like a jackass who threw perfectly good money away. Or, if not a jackass, a goat.

Gamblers at the Edogawa Kyotei boat race course in Tokyo now has a physical manifestation of their goat-ness to deal with when they lose in the form of a robotic goat. When they lose, they can feed their losing tickets to the white-haired goat, perhaps then going home to invest their money in some risk-averse stocks. Then again, maybe they just go gamble some more to make up for their losses. The goat eats about 500 tickets a day, stopping litter and silently mocking gambling addicts. Nice. — Adam Frucci
