Office building lit fully by LEDs jeopardizing bleak vision of the future

Office-lit-fully-by-LEDs.jpg

If you're a fan of movies such as Bladerunner and Alien, the clean, energy efficient lighting that a system of LEDs can provide for buildings and corridors might cause you some dismay. What company would be crazy enough to take the plunge and go 100% LED with its lighting? Well, Cree, a company out of North Carolina that makes the bright little bulbs and now enjoys a greatly reduced energy bill.

Cree has changed out every light in its headquarters with its own XLamp LEDs. The offices and conference rooms, the hallways, bathrooms, lobby and parking structure have all enjoyed the swap. The new lighting solution uses 48% less energy, and the minimal amount of heat the LEDs give off, especially when compared to incandescents bulbs, puts less of a strain on air conditioners during summer.
