Perhaps sensing that gadget geeks were tiring of being eyeballed thanks to their dead-giveaway solar-powered, device-charging backpacks, Noon Solar has chimed in with a line of stylish and environmentally friendly bags that just might redefine the sustainable-energy accessory category. The trendily named Cortland, Willow and Logan bags each cater to a different set of device needs, with the Logan the clear choice for manly geeks.
Each bag features a weather-proof, flexible solar panel that powers the internal battery pack to which your cell phones, iPods and PDAs can connect for convenient charging. The solar panel needs about six to eight hours of exposure to the sun to fully charge the battery pack, a bit more than that on cloudy days. The bags also come with USB and iPod cables, as well as a wall-charging adapter for juicing up your battery pack when the sun's not available.
Naturally, you'll have to pony up for this kind of environmental elegance. Prices run $274 for the Willow, $383 for the Cortland, and $412 for the Logan. Then again, Bavarian, chrome-free, vegetable tanned and dyed, full-grain cowhide leather ain't cheap.
