New Philips phone can last for two months without a recharge

philips9a9.jpgThe dead cellphone is one of those things we've all been stuck with before, and we all know how much it sucks. You can't call people, you can't receive calls, and you just feel cut off from the world. Well, luckily for us, advances in battery technology will soon make such issues a thing of the past.

Just take a peek at this Philips Xenium 9@9 cell phone. It can last for two whole months on standby without dying. Two months! It can also deal with 17 hours of straight chatting, so you could really use this thing for a full week without charging it once. Unfortunately, it's only out in Asia right now, but it's only a matter of time before we get phones with lifespans like this. So long, dead phones.

I know that many people are looking for a phone that is also a camcorder/camera/internet browser/mp3player/video games/movies/tv/bottle opener/day planner/email/gps locator. These are all unnecessary and usually rarely used extras. Long battery life and reception are my top two priorities. If it also has decent reception I'll snatch this phone up as soon as I am able.
