Mixa Tape brings the mixtape into the 21st century

deadmediarocks.jpg

There are few objects loaded up with more nostalgia than a cassette tape. At least for people in my generation, it represents sharing music via mix tapes as well as discovering music for the first time, as it was the prevalent format back when we were coming into our own. So it's no wonder that, despite the fact that its usefulness has gone away, the form factor keeps kicking around in clever ways.

Take this Mixa Tape, for example. It's a USB flash drive, but it's shaped like a cassette tape, and you can decorate it however you want. It's a modern-day update of the old classic, one that children of the 80s everywhere would be proud to keep their MP3s stored on. You know, for old time's sake.

Hey, some of us are children of the 70's and we were mixing cassettes, too. I used to have a bunch of "Jam" tapes. Unfortunately I can't find anything to play them on.
