Fridge with digital picture frame has a flexible future
Whirlpool may have come up with the espresso making fridge, but the company seems to believe that the true future fridge accessories lie in the entertainment department. Enter the Central Park refrigerator, a $2,000 appliance that provides space and power for customized electronics.
The first "accessory" available for this fridge is a CEIVA 8-inch digital photo frame. The $249 attachment can read multiple types of memory cards and can also receive wireless streams from Windows computers. Whirlpool is selling it as the modern day (and most expensive ever) fridge magnet. The company will introduce several other attachments for the Central Park early next year— think mp3 players, television and DVD screens, and touch screen computers. We'd stick with the espresso maker ourselves, then again, we don't have $2249 to spend on a refrigerator in the first place.
