If you've always dreamed of having a washing machine that looks like a shiny black monolith, Milan designer Simona Iuculano may have created exactly what you're looking for. This design concept for a top-loading washing machine is called Flexible Distance, and is designed to be so doggone attractive you'll just want to roll it all over the house with you on its caster wheels.

The washer's backlit controls are located just inside the lid, and there's even an embedded display on top of the lid to show you the progress of your wash. Although the designer is not specific about how water will find its way to and from the washer, if she'd figure that out, make it detergent-free, and also design it to function as a dryer, we'd think she'd be onto something here. — Charlie White
