CrustaStun tases lobsters dead

crustastun.jpg

Don't tase me, chef ! Designed by a British barrister who had a soft spot for lobsters is the CrustaStun. This lobster electrocution device humanely kills lobsters so their delicious remains can be consumed night after night. Normally, lobsters are boiled alive and this is a slow and painful death often taking two minutes or longer. The CrustaStun sends a 110-volt shock up and down the body killing the lobster within five seconds, which is pretty significant compared to the boiling methods

The device is available for a ridiculously high $4,700. It can also kill crabs and crayfish, and reportedly significantly improves the texture and flavor of the meat, but that is probably animal activist PR spin. At least PETA will be happy (not likely).

$4,700 to electrocute a lobster? WTF? I can buy a car for that. This one of the signs of the Apocalypse.

Sooooo, is it fully cooked and edible after execution or do you still have to boil it afterwards? You know... you get a 110volt shock by plugging it into a wall socket too. An electrical cord costs about $1 usd.

I live along the La/Tx border down by the gulf and we're really into animal rights and The Chair. So, does this thing come in a size suitable for a big crawfish or crab boil(50 lbs at least), and how soon can i get one at the local wal-mart?

WOW!! Now, if only they made one for Politicians!!

You know, for two bucks I can get a bottle of cheap wine to pour into the bucket the lobster is in; so he can be nice and ossified by the time I drop him in the boiling water.

I wonder if they have one big enough for California Condors? They will still, probably, taste like electrocuted chicken.

This is brilliant, if expensive. It hurts me when cooking shows show the boiling. Maybe next a bondage-free crab-holding device? Tied-up crabs also bug me.
