With the ASUS Ecobook, the computer manufacturer is trying for a laptop that is as friendly to the environment as it looks — ASUS is shooting for the sum of the Ecobook's parts to be 50% recyclable. To reflect this environmentally-minded design philosophy, the Ecobook is covered with smooth strips of bamboo. ASUS is still in the process of benchmarking various components and didn't have a spec sheet for us, but we did find out that the plan at the moment is to use an Intel Core Duo 2 processor.
The laptop's chassis is still undergoing revisions and the picture above does not reflect the final look of the Ecobook. Right now, the Ecobook looks a lot like the leather-covered ASUS S6, but we're told the final design may appear more like a Macbook. Click through for another view of the ASUS Ecobook.

I love the look. Bamboo is also suppose to be very durable and also an easily renewable resource. I also think it would be great if they could make it at least 50% recycleable, if it could be an Apple macbook would be even better because that is probably going to be my next technology purchase of this kind. Won't be for a while yet hope it's out there when I'm ready

Tree huggers are always on the cutting edge of eco-friendly technology but it never seems to solve anything.

The reason tree-huggers' eco-friendly ideas never make much headway is because there are too many fuel-guzzling Suburban Assault Vehicle (SAV)-driving jerks around who would rather show off their manhood substitutes than do anything to help. };D
