Amazon has big plans to get into the eBook game, and its all set to announce a new device aimed at people looking to lighten their bookshelves and download books from Amazon: the Kindle.
The Kindle sports a big, black-and-white screen for reading your precious books on. It also sports a full keyboard. Why, you ask? Because it has WiFi, so you can check your email on it. Cool, eh? It's lacking a backlight, but if you want to read in the dark there's an external lamp that swings out so you can see what's going on on the screen. More details should be available on Monday when Jeff Bezos announces it officially, so stay tuned.

How this device can get a positive review when all I have seen on this site about the Sony e-reader is relentless bashing, I don't know. Sure, email is a neat feature, but it's redundant considering even most cellphones do it these days, and in smaller packages...and the keyboard makes it clunky and big for carrying around. Aside from that, it doesn't (as far as this article goes to say) offer anything the e-reader doesn't.
I'm assuredly not a huge Sony fan, but I do have an e-reader. It fits in my purse. I like it, and I can't see how this one is altogether any different aside from a thrown-in feature that I wouldn't want anyway.
