It's hard to say if this little tool would actually work or not, but the Zilopop Stainless Steel Lollipop claims to be able to freshen your breath. It's shaped like a small disk on a stick, and even has its own sheath to keep it sanitary while you carry it around using its handy key ring. Its makers advise you to suck on the stainless steel end for a couple of minutes, and claim that after a short while, all odors in the mouth will be gone.
We've heard of MP3 players encased in stainless steel, but breath control devices? Sure. Some chefs swear by stainless steel's ability to remove the smell of fish, onion and garlic from their hands, and any of that effectiveness might be due to the smelly sulfur of those fragrant foods binding with one or more of the metals in stainless steel.
However, there's a misconception at work with this breath-control product which assumes that bad breath originates in the mouth. Actually, most of the time halitosis is coming directly from the lungs, especially in the case of onion or garlic odor. About the only cure for that smell is to wait 24 hours, and the odor might be gone—but not because of any stainless steel lollipop.
