Mobile Suit Gundam fans rejoice, your body-interface controlled robot suit is just about ready. Yuta Sugiura (of the robot specialists family the Sugiura Brothers) and Kento Kikuchi of the University of Electro-Communication have created a robot control system called Ubiquitous. The system allows for three modes of robot control: via wearable leg/arm attachments (allowing the robot to move in concert with your body movements), via finger touch pad, and via good old-fashioned gamer style joystick.
Ubiquitous is still in the development stages so no market release date has been announced, but this should be encouraging to those who saw Japan's live-action "Hinokio" movie and wondered when such a personal robot control system would become a reality. Check out video of Ubiquitous in action after the jump.
