Hymini wind turbine lets tree huggers charge their cell phones the green way

Hymini Mini wind turbine.jpg

One problem with high tech toys is that it's hard to square a love for power craving tech gizmos with an environmentally responsible lifestyle. Now a company called Miniwiz has a device that should make it possible to use your cell phone at the next Green Peace meeting without having to hang your head in shame.

The Hymini is a baby wind turbine that you can attach to your bicycle handlebars, so that it charges its own internal battery as you pedal around the neighborhood. You then can use the charged battery to juice up all kinds of gadgets including MP3 players, digital cameras and cell phones. The Hymini can also get power from a solar panel, or, if you're feeling really dirty, an old fashioned wall outlet.

That all sounds wonderful, although a calculation of how much greenhouse gas was generated building your Hymini and delivering it to your mailbox was not disclosed. The Hymini should be available later this month for about $50.

This device needs two little loops set apart on it's base so that I can attach a cord to it and twirl it over my head.
