Gigantic multitouch screen now available for purchase
interactivewall.jpg

Jeff Han is the father of the multitouch display. Sure, Apple made a mini version of one famous on their iPhone, and Microsoft has a fancy new table that uses the technology, but Han's is the original. And now you can buy one of his multitouch displays for your own home.

Dubbed the Interactive Media Wall, this 8-foot-by-3-foot screen is sure to make your home much more futuristic. You can use it for all sorts of things, from sorting through pictures to scrolling around maps to playing music. It's a really amazing piece of technology, but unfortunately it comes with an equally amazing pricetag: $100,000. Yeah, I think I'll wait for it to go on sale, thanks.

While I understand the business concept that if you sell a few high ticket items it can equal or exceed selling alot of low ticket items, $100,000 for an 8' screen is certainly assuring they will only sell a few a best. Why not make a standard size (say 17" or 19") screen available as well for a price slightly higher than standard screens? I might be willing to spend the extra for such a touch screen. But at $100 grand I'll just have to wait until something I can realistically afford comes out. Maybe when Microsoft makes their tabletop screen publically available. Even at $5 grand or so I might be willing to go for it.
